January 19th, 2007

Today my daughter came back from school armed with a poem written for her by her teacher, Mrs Evans. It was so lovely, I could not resist posting it here:

Glistening branches reach out to the heavens,

In winter like twisted roots held in the air.

Frost steams the breath of each warm-blooded creature,

Braving cold winds or crouched down in their lair.

All surface speaks silence, a semblance of death.

But if one is patient, and watches, digs deep

Hope, tiny and fragile, invisibly quickening,

Upsurging new life takes its first tender breath.
