I read this today while preparing for this weekends podcast, “Worth is not found in joy alone. Nor is success the only valuable outcome. Suffering is the mother of realisation; worries and failures, so long as we are not defeated by them, enable us to deepen our faith. Our sufferings become the raw material with which to construct our happiness. This is the principle of ‘earthly desires are enlightenment’. (Daisaku Ikeda, Lectures on the Expedient Means Chapter, p152)
