On tonights show we are delighted to have a guest appearance from William Woollard. William made the journey to Forest Row and was kind enough to let us record him reading Chapter 2 of his book, The Reluctant Buddhist. Its very personal and I found myself captivated while I was recording. Thank you so much William! We have shoutouts and great music from The Reveals who sing Want You Back and Sarah Vonderhaar whose beautiful voice gets you welcoming the summer with I Got Sunshine! Our next lecture is being written and should be up very soon! Thank you so much for listening!

  1. Wow wow wow! Jason, how extraordinary! Thank you for surprising us with it.

William’s chapter is breathtaking. How many offerings to how many Buddhas in how many pasts, must we have made in order to be able to have his experience in his own voice. As an American, I could only speculate from your announcement that William has a public career of some sort that British listeners are aware of, so I Googled him and found that he (for listeners like me who didn’t know) is a BBC personality (which I gathered from the quality of his voice). I found him in Wikipedia which also has links to some of his shows, for anyone who would like to hear more from him:

This book is now on my “must read” list. I’m captivated. Thank you, William, for taking the time out and developing the courage to bring us into your inner world (i.e., for “outing” yourself as an SGI Buddhist) and treating us to the audio–how better to be introduced to your own book than through your own voice doing the Buddha’s work.

Thank you all again–this will make many hours of happy listening over and over. My tail is positively wagging with joy!

  3. To: Mr & Mrs Jarrett,

I’ve been listening to your podcast for a very long time now. I never took the time to leave comments before. Don’t know why maybe it’s was the stages fright. I live in Paris for over 10 years now. I discover the Buddhism of Nichiren through a friend back when I lived in the States. I started practicing when I was 17 and now I’m 32. I want to tell you how much I appreciate all your hard work that you put into this podcast and this website.

I am very grateful that you have made available even past show for anyone in the world to listen in. Mucha Merci and I look forward to many more show….

    À super bientôt

  4. Me Again!

Yes, I am indeed listening to your most recent podcasts in reverse! Gave this one a listen (I have pretty much all of them stored on my 80GB Zune) on the way home from work today and I very much enjoyed the chapter from William’s book! Now I have to go find it. Or rather, now I have to go clean the swimming pool…

    Cheers!
